YIP Caravan on tour!

Year two of the YIP Caravan Tour is started!

Last year YIP started the YiP Caravan, a two-year project focused on the positive reintegration of young offenders in the Netherlands. The focus of the YiP Caravan is on the socio-cultural integration of these young people. YIP invited workshop teachers and role models from South Africa, Malawi, Kenya and Colombia to the Netherlands. Together with Dutch workshop teachers they use creativity and sport to bring to the detained youth social- and workerskills to improve the opportunities for their reintegration into society. The tour is intended as a kick-off for the next phase with a structural workshop offerings and post release mentoring program after release.

The five Justitiele juvenile institutions they visiting are Forensic Center Teylingereind, young offenders 'institution Den Hey-Acker, young offenders' institution's Hartelborgt, Juvaid JJI Veenhuizen and Justitiele juvenile's Hunnerberg,

What else is happend with YIP?

In March YIP was invited in RTL Late Night by Humberto Tan and appeared in the newspaper 'de Volkskrant' to talk about there new project in Malawi and about the photo auction called YIPArt. Photojournalist Kadir Lohuizen traveled for Young in Prison foundation off to Malawi to young prisoners to learn tricks of the photography. He came back with special photos and together with founder Noa Lodeizen they explains at the Late Night Show why they put their heart and soul into Young in Prison. The YIPauction was a succes and finished with great result of € 107.000.

Young in Prison received an invitation after RTL television program Late Night the  from the State Secretary Fred Teeven. The outcome in May this year YiP's methodology will now be used in Dutch juvenile detention centers thanks to OranjeFond, E-Motive, Program, VSBfonds and Skanfonds.
